I was going to try to avoid doing announcements for the 2013 Chattanooga Tweet-Up here on the Tiki Bar as we are working on the Tweet-Up getting it's very own site where all that can be handled. However...work goes more slowly on that than I thought it would and there is news that I wanted to get out in public before the month of January was over so...

There are actually two bits of news here. The first is simple, after much deliberation, we decided to change the official name of this event to the "Chattanooga Tweet-Up and Cigar Festival" in recognition that at some point Twitter might not be the way we all communicate. It is today, it has been for the last 3 or 4 years, it might continue to be for another 3 or 4 years...but it seems like everything on the web has its expiration date. 

Second, we started contacting all the folks that had sponsored the 2012 event about a month ago to ask, "Do you plan on sponsoring the 2013 Tweet-Up?" The response has been overwhelmingly positive so far. We have had about 18 repeat sponsors officially "re-up" and we have had no one get back to us to say, "We're not interested." (We have had several that haven't gotten back to us, but I did send that initial email out right before Christmas...that could have something to do with it.) We've even had a couple new companies already sign on. As a reminder, the 2013 Chattanooga Tweet-Up will be held Thursday thru Saturday, August 1 thru 3 at Burns Tobacconist (both East and Downtown locations, but mostly East) in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Event details and ticket pricing will be announced soon.
