Today I will be previewing another one of the samples I recieved at the show.
The Perdomo 20th Anniversary celebrates the maker's 20th anniversary in the business. They are a Nicaraguan puro with bourbon barrel aged wrappers. They come in both natural and maduro wrappers in ranging from robusto to Churchill and range in price from $8-$10. I will be smoking the maduro in the Epicure (toro) size.
The wrapper on this cigar was a nice dark chocolate brown with a bit of lighter mottling to it. The veins that were present were fine in size. There was a good amount of tooth to the wrapper and some oils present. When I gave it a squeeze it had a slight amount of give and no soft spots. The wrapper gave off the aroma of cedar and leather with barnyard coming from the foot. After clipping it and taking a cold draw on it I got some cedar and a slight amount of sweetness with a good draw. I drank some Diet Pepsi while smoking this cigar.
It took a good amount of flame to get this cigar burning evenly. Once lit up I tasted chocolate and coffee with some spice on the tongue. The draw was great and it produced lots of smoke. The cigar was in the medium range to start. As I moved farther into this third some cinnamon and cream coming through. The burn was slightly wavy but it wasn't bad enough to need correction.
As I moved into the second third the spice pretty much died down. The chocolate and coffee flavors were joined by some cedar and earth as well. The draw continued to be great and the burn didn't change much.
As I started the final third the flavor didn't change a whole lot from the second third and were kind of muted in intensity. The burn had evened itself out by this third. Towards the end of the final third the spice did start to build to above what it was in the beginning but I wouldn't say it ever ranged out of the medium range.
Overall this cigar didn't really hold my attention that well. I don't know if it was because it was a show sample or the fact that I haven't found that many Perdomo's that really hit my palate. Because of the reasonable price and excellent construction I will give this another try when it hits my shop to see if the second time is better.

Nice review buddy, I like the Perdomo line for the most part but have found my fair share that just don't live up to the hype. Over all I think they are a solid company that stands behind their product!
