Little Monsters: Lil Drac

This is Part 2 of 5 of my look at Tatuaje’s Little Monsters release.

Mini Belicoso, 5" x 48 ring gauge
Unlike the Frank, I did hear about the Drac when it hit the streets three years ago. By the time I got to Burns, they had two left that I could buy...so I did. I loved that cigar and gave it a great 10/10 rating at the time. This again has all Nicaraguan filler and binder, but with an Habano Ecuador Maduro wrapper. The regular Drac came with a footband placed upside down on the cigar so the stogie resembled a stake; this little version does not repeat that theme. The wrapper had a leathery sweet aroma while I got earth and chocolate notes from the foot.

The prelight draw was excellent on the Lil Drac and had a rich chocolatey taste, reminding me what I like about a great Maduro wrapper--sweetness! And, true to form, sweet notes of dried fruit and cocoa powder poured out once I lit this cigar up. Through the first half that sweet flavor continued to delight, backed up with a solid earthiness and just a bit of pepper spice on the palate.

In the second half the Lil Drac changed a bit to display a little more bitterness in the form of black coffee, but it never lost a nice balancing sweetness. I could easily see myself buying a box of nothing but Frank Jr. and Lil Dracs...it would make for a very nice set of smokes! But we have three more Little Monsters to get through still and maybe there are enough gems in there to just constitute buying many, many boxes of Little Monsters and having a few of each.

Happy Friday the 13th!

  1. Nice I wasn't able to grab any of these boxes but I have heard great things. Being semi-new to the small batch cigar world I missed out on all the Monster series So hopefully I'll be able to grab one of these one day.
