The lighters didn't come in a box or bag or anything, just packed in bubble wrap for shipping. They did have a warning sticker on side that I needed to use some Goof Off! to get rid of the sticky residue left after I removed it. I filled the lighter and without any adjustment it lit up right away. I decided to then use the lighter as my primary lighter for a couple weeks and then write this review on it.
Overall I'm quite happy with how the lighter performs. I haven't had any issues with it so far. The flame comes out nice and even and does a good job lighting up my cigars. The ignitor button is very positive and has an authoritative snap when pressed.
I've tried to take a picture of the flame, but it didn't seem to want to show up very well. The one slight issue I've has is that it is a little small and I can only use a couple fingers to hold on to it. Despite it's small size I can get quite a few cigars lit with it before it needs a refill. One other thing is that it doesn't especially like the "cold" (i.e. below 50's) of the Southern California winter nights, so I've had to put it in my jacket when not in use to keep it ready.
Now since I've only been using it for a couple weeks I can't speak to how long it will last but so far it is going strong. If you get a chance I'd suggest picking on up seeing as they can be had for a few dollars each and would be ok as a backup or one you don't mind getting damaged.
Now on to the CONTEST!
Since I purchased more than one of these lighters I decided to give one of these away to one lucky reader of the blog. Now I know an inexpensive lighter like this isn't all that an exciting of a prize, so I added a couple more things to it from my collection. The winner of this contest will receive 1 Ronson JetLite lighter, 1 Drew Estate Liga Privada cutter, and a 6 pack of cigars consisting of a Drew Estates Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Doble, The Crowned Heads Four Kicks Sublimes, Room 101 Namikubi Tiburon, Tatuaje 7th Capa Especial, E.P. Carillo Short Run 2011 robusto, and an Oliva V No. 4.
Here is how to enter:
- Simply leave a comment on this blog post letting me know what your favorite lighter is.
Additional entries can be had by leaving a comment on an post between now and the end of the contest or tweeting the message "The Tiki Bar does a lighter review and you can win free cigars! http://bit.ly/xLSddR @keith1911".
Contest will run through Tuesday January 17th and 11:59 p.m. EST. I will then take all of the entries and through a random drawing pick the winner.
Good luck everyone!

Seems like a nice ligher I have found that sometimes the Cheaper lighters last longer and work better I was currently using a Prometheus Retro lighter that has a major cool factor but it recently died so I'm looking for a new lighter as we speak. Great contest and great give aways
ReplyDeleteI think a really good, consistent, durable lighter, at a fair price, is a rare occurrence. Most lighters have an issue of some kind, or quit working within a few months. I use a Lotus T4 Quad Torch tabletop lighter. I haven't had any issues so far (I shouldn't for $70), but it also stays room temperature inside the house at all times. I think that helps a lot. I also have a cheap Vector lighter that I've had for a couple years. It must be the exception to the rule. It's held up well.
ReplyDeleteXikar Trezo is my lighter of choice and has been for the last few years.

ReplyDeleteNice review. I'm always looking for good deals on Ronsons. Cheap and reliable. Awesome contest! My favorite lighter is anything cheap and with a punch cutter. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Ronson *IS* my favorite lighter. I have several, but can always use another. They don't last forever. Plus, I usually keep several in my pocket when smoking in case one runs out of juice.
ReplyDeleteLotus Intrepid is what I'm using right now. Double flame works pretty well for me. Great contest!
ReplyDeleteBlazer PB207. No lid to get in the way and it stays cool even after prolonged use.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of name brand lighters but the Ronson lighters never miss a beat. I use them when I am around places where I could either lose it or borrow it and not get it back. I don't want to lose my high end lighters. I have three Ronson lighters and they last for a good four years before you had to replace them.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to my Xikar Element at the moment. Time will tell if it holds up or gets replaced someday.
ReplyDeleteI use djeeps when I am traveling but I imagine the torch is nice in a more windy condition.
ReplyDeleteThat is an excellent prize pack. Thanks for the contest.
I have a no name triple torch with a punch that I've been using a few months. Its panther blue so i keep it around.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple vector lights, a jetliner, a Lamborghini, just to name a few but always seem to go back to a single flame torch that cost about 5 bucks, always reliable and has a big fuel tank. Thanks for the post/contest.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite lighter is the Xikar Incline. I works well and I like its size.
ReplyDeleteSweet
ReplyDeleteI have different favorite lighters for different purposes. I carry a 9/11 Firefighter themed Zippo with a pipe insert for my pipes, a Xikar Plunge as my everyday cigar torch and a Camacho branded Lotus table torch for home use. In the car I have no less than a Bic and a Ronson Jet-Lites as they are both usually very reliable and SUPER cheap. I never know when I'll need another one, run out of fuel or have a friend who needs one. It is my goal to never be without a lighter.
ReplyDeleteI use my Ronson Jetlite 75% of the time. They are inexpensive and effective! You are right in the fact they dont like cold weather, but put in your pocket or infront of a space heater and they are good to go. I keep a few around the house and in my truck.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review.
I use a Xikar Double Flame as my primary lighter, I could use a good back-up though. This might fit the bill. Great contest!
ReplyDeletenice , nice giveaway!!! my fav lighter has to be the xikar element, Foozer69
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite lighter. It really outperforms most lighters that are far more expensive. With tho cost of this lighter, I think it's a no brainer. Check your local Walmart where they should be $2.98 each.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that the lighter I use the most is my Xikar Enigma. Something about it just seems more user-friendly.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I shall tweet about it!
What a good time for a Lighter Contest, mine just quit yesterday, it lasted almost two years, a cheap one bought on line. The one I'm using now a Nibo, still working. Thanks for the contest.Have to use Anonymous, it is the only one that works.Swede214
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite and most dependable lighters I ever had was a ronson. I lost it and have been looking for one ever since.
ReplyDeleteJet 1300-C. Best $2.78 I ever spent! Even less in bulk.
ReplyDeleteI still reach for my generic creme brulee torch more than my Xikar and Lotus. Never Fails
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest. For the longest time my favorite lighter was the Ronson. It lasted for a good while, maybe a year or so, then crapped out. I also had a freebie from a shop (Tiger, I think?) that lasted for a year or so, then also crapped out. Right now, I'm using one of those CI lotus lighters. It's been working well so far, but is only a few weeks old. I've found that sooner or later all my torches stop working.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is getting crowded in here. Who are all these people? ;-P
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great response everyone! Remember additional entries can be gotten through posting a comment on the posts until Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteNick, that would be the result of your and other successful tweets getting the word out. : )
Just bought my buddy as a B-Day gift the Xikar EX Natural Flame lighter...great for slowly toasting a cigar!
ReplyDeleteBeen using a black Blazer CG-001 for several years now...never fails and has a large tank, love it! I keep a Zippo with a Z-Plus butane insert in the car as a backup. With all of the great comments, I'll have to give the Ronson a try. Thanks for the Contest!! I enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDeletemy favorite lighter is my xikar mayan ligter i got for my birthday last year
ReplyDeleteXikar element: double torch, lifetime warranty and sexy as hell
ReplyDeleteMy favorite lighter is the very Ronson that you reviewed.Cheap and reliable!
ReplyDeleteI have been using the Ronson lighter for more then 3 years and is a solid lighter. Thanks for the review and contest
ReplyDeleteI've been using the Ronson for a couple of years, very reliable and easy on the billfold.
ReplyDeleteHey, I got the lighter. I'll have to say, it's gotta be the best bang for your buck torch lighter I've seen. It's made similar to a Zippo, only the metal feels considerably thicker & stronger. That's a good thing. I agree with you, Keith, I wish it was just a little bit larger. I find myself having to grip it at the top & bottom, rather than the sides. It doesn't feel as steady in my hand, but that's not a deal breaker. I'll manage. Thanks again, guys!
