Cigar Extra: CAO MX2 Cuban Press

Because the Cuban Press cigars are only different vitolas of lines that I have mostly already reviewed, I will not offer a full review on each, but just a few words on construction, overall experience, etc.

The MX2 wrapper was beautiful except where the second band was around it--there it looked a little crimped and wrinkly and there was actually a small chunk of wrapper missing at the foot on one side. The draw was excellent.

The flavor had black coffee and semi-sweet chocolate notes and it went quite well with my Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon (full review to be posted next month!). Overall, not a radically different MX2 from the regular Box Press version, but a great bargain for the novelty of the Cuban Press shape. So often "special" shapes tend to cost much more than the regular vitolas, but in this case, CAO has seen fit to make the box set of Cuban Presses a great deal. My sincerest thanks to whoever made that decision!

P.S. the title of this entry ("Cigar Extra") will be used when I have something short to post about a cigar in the future. The name comes from years back when Jim and Vern used to take cigars that were almost down to the nub and stick them in a pipe to continue smoking...I believe it was Jim who coined the term "cigar extra" for such a practice.
